GOSHEN — A "Redskin Silent Auction" is being planned by Goshen High School to give community members the first opportunity to purchase memorabilia items featuring the school's former name and mascot.
The auction will include pieces of the original main gym floor, uniforms and warm-ups, according to athletic director Larry Kissinger.
The event begins at 5 p.m. Friday in the Goshen High cafeteria and concludes for that day at 9:30 p.m. Goshen will also be hosting Manchester in JV and varsity boys basketball that evening.
The auction resumes Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the commons by the athletic office. On Saturday, enter at Door M or Door B.
At Saturday's concluding time, all items having a minimum bid will be awarded to the highest bidder and winners will be contacted next week, per Kissinger.
Any items that remain will be auctioned online from Feb. 27 to March 5. Those with winning bids via that portion of the auction will be contacted the following week.
To see items that are up for auction, visit athletics.goshenschools.org/redskinsauction. While that is also the online auction site, online bids will not be accepted until some time on Feb. 27.
Goshen's much-debated nickname change to RedHawks went into effect on Jan. 1, 2016.
