NORTHWOOD 52, COLUMBIA CITY 13

NAPPANEE — Senior quarterback Trey Bilinski threw three touchdown passes, including an 89-yarder to Bronson Yoder, as No. 2 NorthWood improved to 10-0 by beating the Eagles in a Class 4A sectional football opener Friday at Andrews Field.

The Panthers jumped to a 24-0 lead by the end of the first quarter. Bilinski tossed a TD pass to Drew Minnich on the opening drive, followed by a 59-yard scoring run by Brayton Yoder, then Bilinski's long TD pass to Bronson Yoder. The hosts converted each two-pointer.

Payton Bear added a pair of TD runs for NorthWood, which led 45-0 by halftime and will host Northridge (3-7) next Friday in the semifinals.

Columbia City closed at 3-7.

GARRETT 42, FAIRFIELD 16

BENTON — Fairfield sophomore Cordell Hofer caught a pair of touchdown passes from Zac Lantz, but Garrett's offense was too much as the Falcons finished 1-9 on the year with their second loss of the season to the Railroaders.

Garrett (9-1) led 21-8 at halftime, before scoring the first three times it had the ball in the second half to put the Class 3A sectional opener away.

Hofer scored on TD passes of 5 and 15 yards for the Falcons.
