NORWICH, Conn. (AP) -- Will Savage hit a two-run single in the fourth inning, leading the Connecticut Tigers to an 8-3 win over the Lowell Spinners on Wednesday.

The single by Savage, part of a three-run inning, gave the Tigers a 3-2 lead before Sam Machonis hit an RBI single later in the inning.

Connecticut southpaw Locke St. John (1-1) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing two runs on four hits over six innings. Opposing starter Enmanuel De Jesus (2-1) took the loss in the New York-Penn League game after allowing four runs and five hits over four innings.
