SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) -- Ryan Kellogg allowed just five hits over six innings, leading the South Bend Cubs over the Lake County Captains in an 8-2 win on Wednesday.

Kellogg (3-4) allowed two runs while striking out two to get the win.

Trailing 1-0, the Cubs took the lead for good with three runs in the second inning. Sutton Whiting and Roberto Caro both drove in runs en route to the two-run lead.

Casey Shane (5-6) went two innings, allowing three runs and four hits in the Midwest League game. He also struck out one and walked one.

With the win, South Bend improved to 8-3 against Lake County this season.
