TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Abiatal Avelino hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning, and Devyn Bolasky tripled and singled as the Tampa Yankees beat the Lakeland Flying Tigers 3-2 on Wednesday.

Jordan Foley allowed a run, but struck Zac Shepherd out with a runner on third to end the game for his second save of the season.

The home run by Avelino scored Thairo Estrada to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.

After the teams traded runs in the eighth, the Flying Tigers cut into the deficit in the ninth inning when Kade Scivicque scored on a ground out.

Tampa starter Ian Clarkin (6-6) picked up the win after scattering six hits over five scoreless innings. Opposing starter Matt Hall (1-1) took the tough loss in the Florida State League game after giving up two runs and five hits over six innings.

With the win, Tampa improved to 8-2 against Lakeland this season.
