Elkhart senior Kennath Dennis – here returning an interception against Penn earlier this season – has been a key contributor for a strong Lions’ defense this season.

Elkhart football coach Josh Shattuck will enter Friday’s game with Portage knowing his team will get the Indians’ best effort.

“We expect them to throw everything and the kitchen sink at us because they really have nothing to lose,’’ Shattuck said. “It doesn’t matter that they haven’t had a great season (3-6) and we have been successful. They’re a 6A football team with over 100 kids and they’ll be pumped up and dangerous.
