Jimtown honors athletes

Jimtown High School recently honored its spring athletes. Among the Most Valuable Player winners were (from left front): Kaitlin Margraf, Isabel Ortega and Madi Heidt. (Back from left): Alex Hohl, Dustin Whitman and Nate Behrens. 

ELKHART — Jimtown High School recently handed out it's awards for both its top spring and yearly athletes.

Honored as spring Most Valuable Players were Dustin Whitman (baseball), Isabel Ortega (softball), Kaitlyn Margraf (girls tennis), Alex Hohl and Yvens Reisacher (boys track), Maddie Heidt (girls track) and Nate Behrens (boys golf).

The winner of the 2018-19 Sam Award (Scholastic-Academic-Mental Attitude) was Anna Pope for the girls and Austin Pearison for the boys. The Mutt Moore Award winner was Braedon Brubaker, while his brother Trae Brubaker was named the Spirit of Sport Award winner.

Softball: MVP – Isabel Ortega. Mental Attitude Award – Ayla McIntosh. Most Improved Award – Haley Holmes.

Girls Tennis: MVP – Kaitlyn Margraf. Mental Attitude – Grace Crocker. Most Improved – Taylor Carter.

Boys Track: MVP's Alex Hohl and Yvens Reisacher. Mental Attitude – Andrew O’Brien, Shawn Lange and John Sandoval. Most Improved – Alec Schneider and Jon Wiggins.

Girls Track: MVP – Maddie Heidt. Mental Attitude – Elizabeth Turpin. Most Improved – Mirlande Reisacher.

Boys Golf: MVP – Nate Behrens. Mental Attitude – Brice Griffey. Most Improved – Bil Pawlak.

SAM Award: (Scholastic-Academic-Mental Attitude): Girls – Anna Pope. Boys – Austin Pearison.

Mutt Moore Award: Boys – Braedon Brubaker. Girls – None qualified.

Spirit of Sport Award – Trae Brubaker
