GOSHEN — Bayron Garay normally doesn’t score goals — the senior had scored just one all season — and he sure does not normally rip off his shirt no matter who scores them, but there was nothing normal about Saturday’s Class 3A Goshen Regional boys soccer championship.

Garay and the Elkhart Lions defied normal, defied evidence-based wisdom and defied logic on how this was going to go while stunning Penn in a showdown that went to shootout 1-1, before the Lions took that session 4-2.
