VALPARAISO — NorthWood High graduate Bailey Gessinger has been named a Pioneer Football League second-team all-conference player following his standout freshman season at Valparaiso University.

Gessinger ranked second in the league in kickoff return average at 24.4 and led the league with 757 total yards on returns. He also returned two kickoffs for touchdowns, while the rest of the Pioneer League had just one total. Gessinger is one of just three players in the Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division II) with two returns for scores.

Gessinger also caught three passes for 24 yards and returned eight punts for 50 yards.
