CARMEL — Stephen Lee Strickler, 68, of Carmel, son of Thomas and Barbara Strickler, was born Dec. 23, 1950, in Elkhart.
He passed away peacefully May 23, 2019, at Community Hospital in Carmel, from complications of lung cancer.
Steve graduated from Wawasee High School in Syracuse, in 1968.
He went to college at Northern Arizona University to live out his love of the West and graduated with a B.A. in humanities.
He held a variety of customer service jobs in travel, insurance and education.
He was a rabid fan of the Pacers and Colts, no matter how they performed.
He was a great conversationalist and never met a stranger.
He recently completed some of his bucket list trips to the Grand Canyon, Florida, and North Carolina with his most loyal friend, Dave Crowder.
His long time companion, Kim Harwell, treated him to a trip to California to complete his list. The family said they are grateful to her as she attended to him in his final days.
He leaves behind his parents, Tom and Barb Strickler; a sister and brother-in-law, Marsha and Michael Gaspari; a nephew, Daniel Gaspari; and niece Sarah Gaspari; as well as many close friends, aunts and uncles, and cousins.
