GOSHEN — Robert Dean Culp, 83, of Goshen, died July 4, 2019, at Elkhart Hospice.

Robert “Bob” Culp was born May 11, 1936, in Goshen, to George and Bertha (Hartman) Culp.

He gave his heart to Christ on March 1, 1970.

He married Mary Ellen (Grooms) Culp on July 25, 1959. They had two daughters, Shari (John) Stokes of Goshen and Karen (Michael) Wenzelmaier of North Port, Florida; four grandsons, Brandon Yowell of Owensboro, Kentucky,  Bryan (Brittany) Baer of Bristol, Robbie (Sam) Baer of Wakarusa and John Stokes of Goshen; four great-grandsons, Theo and Jude Baer, Oliver Baer and Anthony Hernandez.

He is survived by sisters, Barbara Grooms and Gloria Clark and preceded in death by brothers Romaine, Wilbur, Loyal and George Culp and sisters June Barghahn and Mary Jane Wolfe.

Bob graduated from Goshen High School in 1954 and attended Goshen College.

He served three years in the Orleans, France and kept track of Army supplies on the first giant computers.

Bob worked at 35 years at Western Rubber and eight years at Triangle Rubber.

He volunteered at the Elkhart County Historical Museum for 10 years, the Red Coats at Goshen General Hospital for 12 years and also at Chandler and Parkside schools.

He attended LifePoint Church (First Church of God) for 50 years, serving in many capacities. He was a small group leader for 30 years.

Since moving to Greencroft in 2015, he served at Evergreen Place and ran the projector at the Community Center movies.

His interests include camping, hiking, biking, traveling and watching his beloved Chicago Cubs.

A memorial service will be at 5 p.m. Sunday, July 7, at LifePoint Church, Goshen.

Pastor Troy Scott will officiate.

Memorial donations may be directed to LifePoint Church.
