SARASOTA, Fla. — Mervin Jay Hochstetler, 71, of Sarasota, passed away June 28, 2019.
He was born March 4, 1948, in Elkhart, to the late John Henry and Esther (Miller) Hochstetler.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joanna Schmucker and his brother, John Henry Hochstetler.
Mervin came to Sarasota in 1978 from Nappanee, Indiana.
He was a member of Bible Community Chapel and was a cabinet builder for Real Cabinetry.
He enjoyed making pens and bowling.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Steve Miller and his wife Vickie; sister Mary Ellen Mullet and her husband Glenn; brother Delbert Hochstetler and his wife Ellie; brother-in-law Jr. Schmucker and his wife Laura; and three grandchildren all of Nappanee.
There will be a visitation rom 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 5, at Maloney Funeral Home, 2401 Cattlemen Road, Sarasota, Florida 34232 (behind the Sherwin Williams Paint Store), and also from 9 to 10 a.m Saturday morning, July 6 at Bible Community Church, 4201 Bahia Vista Street, Sarasota, Florida 34232.
Funeral service will follow at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Sunnyside Mennonite Cemetery.
