ELKHART — Harold W. Pletcher, 79, of Elkhart, passed away unexpectedly Monday, June 3, 2019, at his home.
He was born April 17, 1940, in Wakarusa, to the late Paul D. and Bessie (Keil) Pletcher.
He married Joan J. Bollenbacher on Aug. 1, 1975 and she died April 26, 2017 after 41 years of marriage.
Harold is survived by a son, David Pletcher; stepdaughter Lynn Bos; three stepgrandchildren, Tiffany (Adam) Naval, Jeni (Greg) Helselbarth and Zak (Kat) Bollenbacher; two stepgreat- grandchildren, Avery and Aiden Naval; four brothers, Carl (Jean) Pletcher, John (Diana) Pletcher, Steve (Crina) Pletcher and Paul David (Donna) Pletcher; and two sisters, Mary Lou (Charles) Hess and Rae Jean (Lynn) Crothers.
Harold was preceded in death by stepson Jack D. Bollenbacher, two sisters, Susan Webster and Joan Cox and a brother, Charles E. Pletcher.
For more than 40 years, Harold and Joan ran the Verde Greenhouses on State Line Road in Elkhart.
He enjoyed building and flying RC Airplanes, gardening and landscaping.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, June 7, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart.
Per his wishes, cremation was chosen.
