ELKHART — Doris May Grove Schroeder, 92, of Elkhart, passed away at 8:55 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2019, at Hubbard Hill Estates.

She was born Dec. 24, 1926, in Upper Merthyr Tydfil, Great Britain, to Jeremiah Coffey and Annie Jane (Phillips) Coffey.

She married Orval Grove on Sept. 25, 1945 and he passed away March 18, 1975. She later married Wayne Lowell Schroeder on Oct. 29, 1984. and he passed away Aug. 30, 2018.

Surviving are two sons, Dennis (Suzanne) Grove of Wakarusa and Dale (Jane) Grove of Mishawaka; stepdaughter Debra (Pat) Smith of Mishawaka; stepson Randy (Jill) Schroeder of Mishawaka; eight grandchildren, Justin Smith, Nicole (Eric) Moore, April Schroeder, Lisa (Sharath) Grove Narayan, Christopher (Kayla) Grove, Jennifer (Paul) VanAntwerp, Matt (Holly) Sharp, and Carrie (Dustin) Hopp; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Orval Grove and Wayne L. Schroeder; grandson Michael Grove; and two brothers, Jerry Coffey and Albert Coffey.

Doris graduated high school in Wales at the age of 16.

She worked at Miles Laboratory and was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Mishawaka.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, May 22,  at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret-Lienhart Funeral Home, 117 W. Waterford St., Wakarusa and one hour prior to a 10 a.m. funeral service Thursday, May 23, at Wakarusa Missionary Church, 202 W. Waterford St. Wakarusa.

The Rev. Dr. Adam Clark of St. Peter Lutheran Church and Pastor Damon Gardzelewski of Wakeshma Community Church will officiate.

Burial will follow in Olive (West) Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Center for Hospice Care, Elkhart.
