TOPEKA — Several intoxicated teenagers resulted in the arrest of two Topeka men Sunday afternoon.
Around 4:15 a.m. LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department officers conducted a traffic stop on a dark blue 2006 Ford Expedition near C.R. 600W and C.R. 500S for several traffic infractions.
During the traffic stop, police discovered that all eight passengers of the vehicle had consumed alcohol and were under the age of 21, according to the sheriff’s department. It was also discovered that driver, Jason Bontrager, 19, was under the influence of alcohol.
All occupants of the vehicle were detained and Bontrager and Joe Lehman, 18, were taken into custody and transported to the LaGrange County Jail. Bontrager was incarcerated for operating while intoxicated-endangering and minor in possession of alcohol. Lehman was incarcerated for being a minor in possession of alcohol.
The remaining seven underaged passengers were cited for being a minor in possession of alcohol and released to their parents.
