Shooting at auto body shop under investigation

GOSHEN — Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding an altercation that resulted in the shooting of a Goshen man.

Officers were dispatched to Indiana Paint & Collision, 416 N. Main St., around 2 a.m. Monday in reference to a shooting, according to the Goshen Police Department.

Austin Dancy, 29, of Goshen, reported being shot by a known individual and was treated by medics at the scene for a non-life-threatening injury, police said.

Dancy told investigators the man was intoxicated when he arrived and demanded to speak to someone else, a person he believed to be at the business.

When the man was asked to leave the property, he drew a handgun and shot Dancy in the knee before fleeing, police said.

The case is still under investigation and the suspect’s name has not yet been released.
