GOSHEN — The Elkhart County Parks is inviting nature enthusiasts to experience the wild beauty of birds up close on Saturday, June 15, at a bird banding demonstration at River Preserve County Park.
From 9 a.m. to noon, participants can join professional bander Brad Bumgardner of Indiana Audubon Society as he bands and releases birds found in this area. Visitors will get a behind-the-scenes look at the banding process, learn how this research provides us with knowledge on the lives of birds, and see a variety of songbirds closer than ever before.
The banding demonstration will take place at Benton Spillway Shelter in River Preserve County Park, 68550 C.R. 31, Goshen.
The program is free to attend with no registration required. Visitors are welcome to stop by at any point during the three-hour banding session. In the case of inclement weather, the program will be moved to the following morning (same time) on Sunday, June 16. Updates will be available on the Elkhart County Parks Facebook page.
