GOSHEN — Extra security was put in place at Goshen High School on Friday following a “concerning” social media post, though no credible threat was found.
Goshen school administrators contacted the police Friday morning after being made aware of statements of concern posted on a GHS student’s Facebook page, according to a joint news release from Goshen Community Schools and Goshen Police Department.
Police said their investigation determined the potential threat was not credible.
“It is not uncommon for young people to express their anxiety in misguided or inappropriate ways, and Goshen authorities will continue to take any such expressions very seriously,” the release said. “While this threat was deemed not to be credible, the school district and law enforcement officials always work together to ensure the safety of all students and staff, and will continue to be diligent in our efforts to do so.”
The statement also noted how the recent Florida shooting that left 14 students and three staff members dead was a tragedy that’s been difficult for many students to process and understand.
