ELKHART — Officials at Concord Community Schools will have to explore new revenue sources after voters narrowly turned down a referendum to renew a tax levy that would have been used to support education and future programs.

The unofficial tally shows that 1,514 voted no, while 1,438 voted yes, meaning less than 100 votes made the difference between extending the tax levy even at a lower rate. The previous referendum is set to cease at the end of this calendar year.

I'd bet Old Joe doesn't even live in the Concord school district. So no vote Joe!

Actually, the Republican and Independent party would prefer that tax dollars follow the student allowing parents CHOICE in where their child/children attend school whether that is home school, public, or private. The COVID-19 pandemic shed light that the public (government) schools have the teachers unions best interest at heart NOT students, parents, or teachers. Additionally, indoctrination to divide individuals against one another based on race and sexual preference is occurring. School choice for every family puts choosing where your dollar does go is the best option.

If you want more money for schools, stop supporting Republicans in state elections, they prefer to support private schools.

I think I counted around 18 Concord school employees $100,00+! Not bad for about 190 days of work a year!

Making a statement like that is like saying firemen should only get paid while out on calls!

Actually, the Republican party supports parents having the choice in where the funds for education taxes go. Each family/parent should have the option to choose what works best for them whether that is homeschool, public, or private. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic has revealed that teacher's unions are looking out for themselves not the students or families. Furthermore, the public schools want to serve as the authoritarian voice versus allowing parents to raise their children. School dollars should follow the student.

yeah...and my tax dollars should only go to fix potholes I drive on....nice try, but it doesn't work that way. If you want your own beliefs, homeschool and get left behind, or go to private school and pay for it...authoritarian voice? For real? "Q"razy beliefs...

NO! SF. Republicans feel the money should follow the student! Parents having differing reasons as to private school still pay public public school tax but get vouchers to help towards tuition.
