INDIANAPOLIS — Eleven Indiana State troopers assigned to the Toll Road Post received their patrol cars today after completing three months in the ISP Field Training Program. The probationary troopers graduated from the 78th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy in December. The entire class was issued their state police cars during a ceremony held at the Indiana State Police Youth Education and Historical Center in Indianapolis on Tuesday.
While at the academy the recruits received 22 weeks of intense training. Their graduation was the culmination of more than 1,000 hours of training that included criminal law, emergency vehicle operations and traffic law. The academy training also covered other facets of law enforcement including criminal investigation, crash investigation, self-defense and other general law enforcement related areas of instruction.
A native of Monroe, Michigan, who was homeschooled, Walker owned his own landscaping business before attending the recruit academy. Walker will patrol LaGrange and Steuben counties.
A native of Syracuse, he graduated from Concord High School and earned a Criminal Justice degree from Southwestern College in Michigan. Littlefield will patrol Porter, LaPorte and St. Joseph County.
A native of Angola and a graduate of Angola High School, Hensley earned an associate’s degree in General Studies from Ivy Tech. Hensley will patrol in Lake and Porter counties.
A native of Butler and a graduate of Eastside High School, Hernandez earned a degree in Criminal Justice from Ivy Tech and Trine University. Hernandez will patrol in LaGrange and Steuben Counties.
A native of Warsaw and a graduate of Warsaw High School, Bill joined the Air National Guard after graduating from high school. Bill will patrol in LaGrange and Steuben counties.
A native of Hudson and a graduate of Prairie Heights High School, Kitson earned degrees in Criminal Justice and Psychology from Tri-State University. Kitson will patrol in LaGrange and Steuben counties.
A native of Elkhart and a graduate of Concord High School, she earned a Criminal Justice degree from Indiana University South Bend and was an intern with the Indiana State Police. Makin will patrol in Porter, LaPorte, and St. Joseph counties.
A native of Elkhart and a graduate of Concord High School, Doyle joined the Air Force and served five years of active duty and two years in the Air National Guard. Doyle will patrol Porter, LaPorte, and St Joseph counties.
A native of Elkhart and a graduate of Memorial High School, Johnson worked for Lippert Components prior to attending the Indiana State Police Recruit Academy. Johnson will patrol St. Joseph, Elkhart and LaGrange counties.
A native of Warsaw and a graduate of Warsaw High School, Alvarez earned an associate degree in Criminal Justice from Ivy Tech. Alvarez will patrol St. Joseph, Elkhart and LaGrange counties.
A native of Syracuse and a graduate of Wawasee High School, Anderson earned in a degree in Conservation Law Enforcement from Vincennes University. Anderson will patrol in St. Joseph, Elkhart and LaGrange counties.
