NEW PARIS — A 60-year-old Elkhart man died Friday as a result of injuries suffered in a six-vehicle crash, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department.

Scott Lemon, who was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle involved in the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The crash happened on S.R. 15 north of C.R. 50, less than 2 miles south of New Paris. Deputies were called to the area at 12:53 p.m.

S.R. 15 was under construction and down to one lane in each direction. Police said a 2005 Ford F-150 driven by 23-year-old Ricardo Vega of Milford struck a line of stopped vehicles from behind, hitting Lemon's motorcycle first.

Lemon, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from his motorcycle and died, police said.

According to Lemon's obituary, he is survived by his wife, a daughter, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The crash is still under investigation.
