GOSHEN — A Goshen man accused of child molesting allegedly tried to bribe the victim and her brother into not telling anyone.
Raul Cisneros Jr., 29, is charged with the Level 1 felony following an investigation by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office into a report made on June 11. The charge was filed in Elkhart County Superior Court 3 on Tuesday.
He was booked in the Elkhart County Correctional Facility on $150,000 bond. His initial hearing is scheduled for Thursday.
A Level 1 felony carries a potential prison term of up to 40 years.
According to court documents:
A patrolman with the sheriff’s office responded to a residence on the northwest side of Goshen for a report of a molestation incident that had taken place earlier that evening. The father of the victim, who is under 8 years old, said she had just disclosed to him that Cisneros touched her inappropriately.
The girl was forensically interviewed at the Child and Family Advocacy Center in Elkhart on June 13. She described what Cisneros had allegedly done and said he told her if she didn’t tell anyone what happened, he could buy her ice cream.
The girl’s older brother was also interviewed at the center. He said Cisneros arrived that night “drunk” and “acting weird,” and had offered him $100 to go to his room, which he did.
He said he came back out after he overheard his sister telling Cisneros several times not to touch her. He said he then saw Cisneros with his hands on the girl in another room.
