VANDALIA, Mich. — A woman hiking the trails at TK Lawless Park with her dog required the help of Cass County deputies after being unable to find her way out.

According to a news release provides by Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke, deputies responded to a hiker that had become lost at 12:19 p.m. Thursday, April 19.

Cass County Dispatch was in phone contact with the lost female for approximately 15 minutes, trying to direct her out of the trails, Behnke said. When that failed they directed her to stop where she was until help arrived.

Sheriff Deputies and the Pokagon Tribal Police responded to the call. With the assistance of K9 Nellie, deputies were led to the female’s location.

The female and her young dog were located, unharmed, just off the main trail areas in the woods at Lawless Park.
