Indiana Legislature Coal Plants

State Rep. Ed Soliday, R-Valparaiso, speaks about a bill aimed at making it more difficult for Indiana electric companies to close more coal-fired power plants during Indiana House debate on Monday. House members voted 52-41 in favor of the bill, which faces objections from consumer and environmental groups who argue it could stifle growth in renewable energy such as wind and solar power.

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana House narrowly endorsed on Monday a proposal aimed at making it more difficult for Indiana electric companies to close more coal-fired power plants.

House members voted 52-41 in favor of the bill that would impose additional state reviews on utility companies for the coming year before they could move ahead with shutting down those plants. Just two Democrats joined Republicans in supporting the bill, which faces objections from consumer and environmental groups who argue it props up the coal industry and could stifle growth in renewable energy such as wind and solar power.

Hey Joe, I forgot to ask if saw the State of the Union last night. It was a great speech celebrating American success. Did Nancy make you proud Joe?

I did watch...It was disappointing the President came into the House and refused to shake the speakers hand.... Then we watched "let's make a deal" and see who won a new car....He had a chance to unite the country, instead the reality con artist made a mockery of the State of the Union...the voters will see thru it ...especially the lies....I will listen to what he does...He is doing on the recovering economy he inherited from Obama, I wonder how much better it would have been if we didn't play his tariff games...

It’s my comment Joe so the subject is my choice. Iowa is a disaster. All your liberal news sights agree and you claim quality control. Funny, looks more like manipulation to those of us with a brain.

Mayor Pete did a poor job running South Bend and he’s the best you got. Good luck with that Joe.

Joe King

Hey Sidearm, it is a disaster and they are dealing with it... At least there is a paper trail to fall back on....but wait, are you forgetting about the problems the GOP had last time? They experienced a similar issue...because you forgot or hope the world forgot doesn't mean its fake news.. It is refreshing to hear a presidential candidate able to use words and complete sentences without lying and snorting his way thru...Good luck with your impeached choice. Perhaps, his taxes will be released soon....good luck with that

So old Joe complains about going off subject... then he STAYS off subject! He may be related to "OL" Joe Biden! Ya just can't make this stuff up!!!

GOP thinking at it’s finest...... so much for a free market and capitalism... it natural gas is cheaper and cleaner to burn, why is the GOP forcing us to pay more money! They block and hurt free energy and renewables for coal...now we know they are on the coal lobbyists payroll...

sidearm

Your party doesn’t want natural gas either Joe, just wind and solar. Your party can’t even run a primary efficiently and you want to run our healthcare! Who won the Iowa caucus Joe?

Joe King

What’s that have to do with this...stay on topic...but it is called quality control and they are proofreading the results...it’s a lot different and harder since Democrats are going with the will of the people instead of trump trying to please Putin, the kremlin and the US oligarchs.
