ELKHART — The Daylite Inn on the city’s north side has been cited as unsafe for human occupancy by city inspectors and has been given a three-week deadline to fix violations.

The citation came after the Elkhart Fire Department went to 2820 Cassopolis St. for a routine inspection and saw several smoke detectors were not working, which then prompted an inspection from city code enforcement officers, said Elkhart Communications Director Corinne Straight.
