Goshen woman killed in crash near Peru

PERU — A Goshen woman was killed in a single vehicle crash on U.S. 31 south of Sease Drive outside of Peru on Thursday morning, according to Indiana State Police, who responded to the crash around 9:23 a.m. with the Miami County Sheriff's Department.

The woman, identified as Rebecca Easton, 60, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox south on U.S. 31, police said. Preliminary evidence indicates that Easton was traveling too fast for the slick road conditions and lost control of the vehicle, according to police. The Chevrolet traveled off the west side of the road and struck an embankment, rolling at least once and eventually stopping on its roof.

Police said Easton was not wearing a seat belt. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
