Goshen police: Woman shot in leg after confronting intruder

GOSHEN — A woman told police she was shot in the leg with her own handgun after confronting an intruder in her home.

Sarah Marshall, 31, was treated at Goshen General Hospital for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her lower leg, according to Goshen police.

Officers were called to the residence in the 1000 block of North 5th Street just after midnight early Satuday.

The victim told police she heard a noise in her home and discovered an unknown male standing in her house. The victim retrieved her handgun and approached the subject, according to the report. A short struggle for the weapon ensued, during which time Marshall was shot in the leg.

Police said the intruder fled the home in an unknown direction. He had not been identified nor was a description immediately available, police said.
