SOUTH BEND —  Marcell Spencer, 23, of Goshen, was sentenced before U.S. District Court Judge Jon E. DeGuilio, upon his plea of guilty to possessing with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, U.S. Attorney Thomas Kirsch announced.

Spencer was sentenced to 61 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release.

According to documents in this case, Spencer entered a guilty plea for possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. The charges arose out of a search warrant executed in May 2018 at the defendant’s home where marijuana and weapons were found.

The case was investigated by the ATF with the assistance of the Goshen Police Department and was handled by Assistant United States Attorney Frank E. Schaffer.
