ELKHART — Libraries used to be a place where students checked out books and read quietly, but that’s a far cry from what any of the elementary spaces are now at Elkhart Community Schools.

To prepare students for the future, the Elkhart Education Foundation launched its Living Libraries initiative and teamed up with the school corporation to provide all 14 of its elementary schools with a 21st-century facelift.
