GOSHEN — The Elkhart County Election Board will hold its public test of voting equipment Thursday.

The test is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Room 104 of the County Administrative Offices Building, 117 N. 2nd St., Goshen. This is a required test that county election officials perform before each election, according to Kelsey McClure, voter outreach coordinator.

This is also the first time for doing this public test with the county’s new voting equipment, she said. Anyone is welcome to attend and ask questions.

Poll worker training

The election board will hold poll worker training for the 2019 municipal primary election starting April 22. All sessions are in Room 104 in the county office building.

Anyone interested in working at a vote center should first contact either county Democratic Party Chair Chad Crabtree, at 574-607-3241 or chad@alumni.iu.edu, or Republican Party Chair Dan Holtz, at 574-238-6239 or danholtz@troyerproducts.com.

Sessions are job-specific and workers are required to sign up for training. Call the voter registration office at 574-535-6770 or 574-533-6774.

Training for clerks will be April 22 at 6 p.m., April 23 at 2 p.m. and May 1 at 9 a.m.

Training for supervisors is April 24 at 9 a.m. and April 29 at 6 p.m.

Training for facilitators is April 24 at 6 p.m., April 26 at 9 a.m. and April 30 at 2 and 6 p.m.

Poll workers receive payment and a food allowance, but must attend and sign-in at a training session and work the full day at the polls.
