CASSOPOLIS, Mich. — A 40-year-old Edwardsburg, Michigan resident died Monday in a single vehicle accident.

Sheriff Richard Behnke of the Cass County Sheriff’s office in Michigan reported that at 6:49 p.m. his deputies were called to a crash on Calvin Hill Street near North Shore Drive, in Jefferson Township, of Cass County. According to the accident report, the driver, Jennifer Johnson was headed west on Calvin Hill Street when she lost control of her vehicle, and drove off the road striking a tree causing a fatal injury.

Johnson was the only occupant of the vehicle.A seat belt was worn during this crash, Behnke said.

Road conditions were slick at the time of the accident, according to the report. Alcohol was not believed to be a factor.

This incident still remains under investigation.

Assisting agencies were the Penn Township Fire Department, Edwardsburg Fire Department, and also LifeCare Ambulance.
