Dick Armstrong drops his ballot into the collection box last week at First Presbyterian Church in Goshen on the first day of in-person absentee voting.

GOSHEN — Since early voting began in Indiana last week, election officials in Elkhart County said turnout has been consistently brisk.

According to Carol Smith, Elkhart County’s deputy clerk, about 7,000 voters have voted in person so far, and 12,500 absentee ballots have been mailed out with approximately 6,000 of those being mailed back in.
