ELKHART — The average homeowner in the Elkhart Community Schools district could see a tax increase of $119 per year over eight years if voters approve the district’s upcoming referendum.
Elkhart officials are asking voter approval of property tax hikes that would raise $4.9 million per year over eight years to renew its existing transportation referendum and an additional $10.35 million to bolster employee salaries and insurance benefits.
