Crash kills one near New Paris

NEW PARIS — An unnamed person died in a single vehicle crash near New Paris about 1:41 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office.

The driver was traveling south on C.R. 21, north of C.R. 142, in a 2007 Nissan Sentra and drove off the right side of the roadway, striking the guard rail, police said.

The vehicle then flipped over and ejected the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, according to police. The vehicle then landed on the other guard rail.

There were no other witnesses or passengers.

The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.
