MIDDLEBURY — A crash involving van and a horse-drawn buggy Wednesday morning killed the horse and sent the driver of the buggy to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The collision occurred about 7:55 a.m. near 14275 C.R. 126 west of C.R. 35 and about three miles east of Goshen, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office.

Starla Miller, 16, of Middlebury, was traveling east on C.R. 126 in a 2005 GMC Savana when she rear-ended the buggy driven by Vonda Yoder, 42, of Middlebury, the report said. Yoder was transported to Elkhart General Hospital with neck, shoulder and back pain.

Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash, police said, and no enforcement actions were taken.
