2 children found in State Line Road home during meth bust

MASON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Two children were located inside a home on State Line Road where police found an alleged methamphetamine manufacturing operation on Monday.

The Cass County, Mich., Drug Enforcement Team raided a home in the 19000 block of State Line Road, which is near C.R. 15 in Elkhart County, after obtaining evidence that the residents were cooking meth, according to the Cass County Sheriff's Department. During Monday's raid, police found both meth-making components and paraphernalia used to ingest meth.

A 37-year-old woman was arrested for conspiracy to manufacture meth, possession of meth and maintaining a drug house. A 36-year-old woman was arrested for possession of meth and maintaining a drug house.

Police did not release the identities of either suspect because they had not appeared in court for arraignment, which is scheduled for Tuesday in Cass County 4th District Court.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services responded to the scene after police served the search warrant to help with the children's living situations. Police did not say whether the children were removed from the home or who was given custody of them.
