Cassopolis motorcyclist seriously injured after hitting a deer north of Edwardsburg


EDWARDSBURG — A Cassopolis motorcyclist was seriously injured after hitting a deer just north of Edwardsburg on Wednesday.

The 59-year-old man was riding south on M-62 when the deer ran out in front of him near Pine Lake Street around 11:45 a.m. The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, crashed onto the roadway after hitting the deer, according to the Cass County Sheriff's Department.

MedFlight airlifted him to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for treatment. 

The Edwardsburg police and fire departments, along with LifeCare Ambulance, also assisted at the scene.
