Cass County man injured by shots fired through window

EDWARDSBURG, Mich. — Police were looking for subjects who fired shots through a window early Saturday and injured a homeowner who refused to come outside to talk with them.

The 57-year-old Edwardsburg man was transported to Elkhart General Hospital where he was listed in stable condition, according to Cass County Sheriff Richard J. Behnke.

Police said they were called to investigate the shooting about 12:20 a.m. Saturday on Starbrick Street near Tharp Lake Road in Mason Township. They said the man was in his house when unknown subjects came to his door and demanded to talk with him. When the homeowner did not come outside, the subjects began firing a gun through a window.

In a news release, Behnke said the case remains under investigation and that the suspects remain unknown.
