PORTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A Cass County man was injured Saturday while standing inside his garage when a driver on the road lost control and crashed into the garage, according to Cass County Sheriff Richard J. Behnke.Â
The driver, John Hendrickson, 55, of Union, Michigan, was traveling north on Sunset Boulevard south of U.S. 12 when he lost control of his vehicle and ran off the road and drove through the detached garage at approximately 6:24 p.m., police said.
The homeowner, Victor Dufour, 46, was standing inside the garage and was transported to Elkhart General Hospital for his injuries.
Hendrickson had a minor laceration on his forehead, but no other injuries, police said.
Police suspects alcohol and marijuana were contributing factors in the crash, which is still under investigation.Â
