ELKHART — The future of Elkhart’s Tolson Center appears to include a not-for-profit organization that will govern the facility but be financially supported by the City of Elkhart.

That is part of the proposal for a reimagined community center that the Tolson Center Steering Committee presented to the public on Thursday evening. The committee, made up of 16 community leaders, has worked on what could be next for the center since it was closed for roughly a year starting in the summer of 2018.
