Elkhart County Courthouse downtown Elkhart

The City of Elkhart is paying for an economic impact study that will show how downtown would be effected by the loss of the Elkhart County Courthouse.

ELKHART — An economic impact study commissioned by the city will be completed by Nov. 14 to show how losing a county courthouse downtown would affect the area.

Mayor Rod Roberson hopes the study will help convince the Elkhart County Council to reconsider placing a new and consolidated courthouse next door to the existing building which, along with the courthouse in downtown Goshen, has been deemed to be below modern standards for a courthouse.
