Bird electric scooters e-scooters

Bird launched its electric scooter program in Elkhart in mid-April. A fleet of about 50 scooters can be found throughout town, though most are in the downtown area.

ELKHART — An electric scooter company has launched operations in Elkhart, giving residents and visitors a chance to get around without a bike, bus or car.

The company, Bird, said its Elkhart fleet consists of roughly 50 e-scooters that can be rented for $1 to unlock and 39 cents per minute, plus tax.

The Bird app allows users to find and reserve the nearest electric scooter. It costs $1 to unlock a scooter and $0.39 per minute until it is locked, plus tax.
