Nappanee woman charged with child neglect after son is found wandering outside without supervision

 

Charges have been filed against a Nappanee woman suspected of neglect of a dependent.

Casey Nicole Thornton, 22, was booked at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, in Kosciusko County Jail, Ink Free News reports, after several reports of her 3-year-old son wandering outside without supervision in weather-inappropriate clothes. Formal charges were filed Monday, May 11, 

Nappanee police were called to pick up the child at least four times from October to April, according to Ink Free News. On one occasion, the boy was found one-half mile from his home with no supervision.

Bond was set at $10,000, according to Ink Free News. As of noon Thursday, May 14, Thornton was not listed as an inmate at the jail.
