Nappanee Second Saturdays

Nappanee’s Second Saturday will be special this month with the addition of the Antique Tractor Cruise-In.

The cruise-in raises money for United Cancer Services of Elkhart County. Last year area tractor clubs raised more than $3,000, according to previous reporting by The Elkhart Truth.

Registration for tractors starts at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 13. The 10-mile drive through Nappanee countryside beginning and ending at Coppes Commons will start at 9 a.m. For slower tractors, a second tractor drive is planned for 2 p.m. through downtown Nappanee.

The tractors will be on display from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and there will be yard games and food vendors. Tractor wagon rides will be offered for kids. A luncheon is planned for tractor drivers and cancer survivors.

Second Saturday will also feature the third annual Hoosier Egg Fest.

The Battle of the Eggs grilling contest will be Saturday morning, with all cooking done on a Big Green Egg grill.

Ernie Miller, founder of Miller Stove & Fireplace, said those planning on competing in the contest should show up around 6 or 7 a.m. Judging for the contest begins at 11 a.m.

Miller said while participants don’t need to pre-register, it would be helpful if they did. Those interested can call 855-426-2699 to register.

Representatives from Big Green Egg will give free grilling and barbecue classes 5-8 p.m. Friday.
