Nappanee Dog Park hosting events, fundraisers throughout 2015

NAPPANEE — Nappanee Dog Park is hosting several events for dog lovers, whether they’re members or not.

Park Clean Up Day will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at the dog park and volunteers are needed.

“That is just for anybody who wants to help rake leaves, pick up sticks and that sort of thing,” said Tiffany Egendoerfer, Nappanee first deputy clerk-treasurer and park secretary.

Be sure to bring your own gloves, she said.

The dog park’s Nelson’s Port-A-Pit fundraiser is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 18, in the Rite Choice parking lot, 1303 E. Market St. They’ll sell pork chops, potatoes and other supplies.

The Howl-O-Ween Open House is from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oc.t 10, at the park.

“That one’s kind of fun — we have the dogs dress up and we have little treats for them,” Egendoerfer said.

The Nappanee Dog Park is located on North Oakland Avenue right near the entrance of McCormick Creek Golf Course, Egendoerfer said. It opened in 2011 and is funded by members of the dog park. Membership is required for regular use of the park. For more information call 574-773-2112.
