Democrat candidates hope to reclaim patriotism label

Elkhart City Councilman Aaron Mishler and Indiana Secretary of State candidate Destiny Wells speak during a stop in Nappanee of the Indiana Democratic Party’s Jobs Tour.

NAPPANEE — Destiny Wells and other Democratic candidates say they want to reclaim patriotism from Republicans who stayed in lockstep with a president who cozied up to dictators and tried to thwart the election.

Wells, an Indianapolis attorney and military veteran who is running for Secretary of State, spoke Saturday as the Indiana Democratic Party’s Jobs Tour stopped in Nappanee. She was joined by U.S. Senate candidate Thomas McDermott and two incumbents, state Rep. Maureen Bauer of South Bend and Elkhart City Councilman Aaron Mishler.
