ELKHART — Mayor Rod Roberson is proposing that Elkhart County’s new consolidated courthouse should span two blocks in downtown Elkhart in combination with the city’s new public safety facility.

As Elkhart County officials have discussed moving the courts out of old buildings in the downtowns of Elkhart and Goshen in order to consolidate in one facility on the outskirts of either city, Roberson, a Democrat, has repeatedly said doing so would hurt the county’s most populous municipality.

Would really like to see the court remain in downtown, would would hate to see the Elkhart Truth building and that block torn down, why not build a skywalk over 3rd street, between High and Franklin, that way you only tear down a empty bank builing thats been about 6 different banks in 15 years, has to be alot cheaper.Sure county commissioners will do want ever favors the city of Goshen
