Members work out at ProVida Fitness in Elkhart on Friday, the first day such facilities were allowed to be open since the shutdown began to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

ELKHART — Gyms across Indiana are starting to reopen for the first time in two months as Stage 3 of Gov. Eric Holcomb’s “Back on Track” plan went into effect on Friday – two days earlier than previously planned.

Under Stage 3, gyms and fitness studios must take extra precautions to avoid the spread of coronavirus. The equipment has to be spaced for social distancing, class sizes have to be restricted, and equipment has to be cleaned after every use. Employees have to wear face coverings.
