Jackson Boulevard bridge

The Jackson Boulevard bridge over the Elkhart River will be closed for six months starting Jan. 5, as the City of Elkhart spends $1.5 to make the bridge more attractive.

ELKHART — The Jackson Boulevard bridge over the Elkhart River, separating downtown Elkhart from the River District, will be closed for six months.

As contractors get to work on Jan. 5, drivers will need to detour and cross the river via Elkhart Avenue, a few blocks south. Pedestrians can cross at the bridge between Central Park and NIBCO Water & Ice Park.
