Elkhart City Hall

The Elkhart City Council is expected to pass the $87.5 million 2021 budget in October.

ELKHART — The proposed City of Elkhart budget for 2021, which includes $5.5 million more in spending than the 2020 budget, is well on its way to being approved by the City Council.

The council members had a Finance Committee-of-the-Whole hearing Saturday, going over the budget with each department director, and – mostly unanimously – giving their tentative approval for each department. The council is expected to give final approval next month.
